John Busby established Kirkton Estate at Lower Belford, Hunter Valley in 1830. John, his wife and family journeyed to Port Jackson, Sydney from Leith, Scotland aboard the Triton in February of 1824.

Kirkton Estate was the first vineyard to be established in the Hunter Valley by John Busby in 1830. Kirkton’s historic importance grew from its intrinsic association with James Busby, (son of John Busby) and its role in being the incubator for what remains the largest and most diverse viticulture assessment project undertaken in Australia. The 365 varieties of vines he planted at his father’s vineyard “Kirkton”, together with writing numerous publications on Viticulture and Winemaking, bestowed upon him recognition as the “Father of the Australian Wine Industry”.

Adelaide Hills

In 2006 Tim launched the Riposte label combining a wealth of accumulated knowledge with flair and a “no compromise” attitude in the creation of a range of wines quickly recognised for their flavour, elegance and balance.

Riposte is an entirely family owned and run boutique winery. Tim, Dale and Nick form a close-knit team that is guided
by the winemaking philosophy to be ‘hands on’ at every stage from vineyard to bottle. Each vineyard site is carefully selected for quality and its sustainability for producing varietal character. Tim and son Nick work closely with the growers at every stage, ensuring grapes are picked at the optimum stage of ripeness, vibrancy and freshness.

In the winery Tim and Nick carefully craft the wines in small batches maximising flavour and complexity creating wines of great distinction that preserve the character of the Adelaide Hills, South Australia’s premier cool climate region.

Adelaide Hills Riposte is sold to selected retail outlets and on premise throughout Australia and exported to various international markets.

Driftwood Estate is a family owned boutique winery, located in the heart of the globally renowned Margaret River region, in the premium wine growing sub-region of Wilyabrup Established in 1989, the Estate is spread over 100 acres of undulating rich grape growing country, just a stones-throw from the Indian Ocean. The maritime climate, fertile soil and attention to detail in the vineyard combine to produce amazing fruit with strong varietal characteristics.

“Quality wines are made in the vineyard.” While wine making can have positive input, having premium quality fruit is essential. This is why we are so fortunate at Driftwood to be located in one of the greatest viticultural areas in the world. We are able to source super premium fruit year in, year out. With premium quality fruit, our wine making philosophy is all about protecting and expressing the qualities that we find in the grapes, so that the wine lover can enjoy the flavours of Margaret River.

The brand and the labels celebrate the art of the found, the salvaged and the treasured; time weathered items – forensically photographed like an art collection curated from over 4,000 collected objects, wrought by sea and sand into objects of beauty.

Angullong
Orange, New South Wales

Angullong has a strong pastoral heritage. The Crossing family acquired the Angullong property in 1950 and has continued to run the property as a successful sheep and cattle station.

A portion of the property (540 acres) was planted to vineyards in 1998, 1999 and 2000. The remaining 4,000 acres of well watered and sheltered grazing country is used for the Crossing family’s commercial Angus cattle and fodder cropping enterprises (Angullong Pastoral Co).

The Angullong wine label was created in 2003. We are the first generation of winegrowers drawing on the expertise and care that the previous generations have put into the land.
