Kellybrook
Yarra Valley
An abundance of real style and personality. Kellybrook is a lovely oasis in the old Yarra Valley orchard belt in Wonga Park in the Yarra Valley. It is not only the first licenced but the closest Yarra Valley winery to Melbourne. Set amongst lush vineyard and beautiful gardens, the winery offers an authentic Yarra Valley tasting and working farm experience.
Originally bought by Alfred and Inez Kelly in 1935, Kellybrook (originally called Siwa) was a remnant orchard and hobby farm which was used as a weekender in its initial years as part of the Kelly occupation.
Darren Kelly was raised at the Wonga park property and attended the local primary school. Although trained in accounting his heart was set on farming, so at the tender age of 22, in 1962 he decided to re-plant the orchards of Kellybrook.
Darren and Farley Kelly founded Kellybrook in 1962 and made both still and sparkling cider from apples grown at the Wonga Park orchard.
Darren and Farley’s sons Phil and Gus head up the operation these days and have since included the Kellybrothers cider brand and the Riders Brew Co. beer brand to complement the long established and respected wine brand of Kellybrook.
Soon grapevines were planted too and Kellybrook was granted the Yarra Valley’s first vigneron’s licence in 1969.
