Claymore wines began in 1997 with an Adelaide medical Professional, Anura Nitchingham, realising the opportunity to indulge his passions for great wine, timeless music . . . and the Liverpool Football Club. Now, 20 years later, what began as a passionate diversion has grown into a serious boutique business producing in excess of 20,000 cases of premium Clare Valley wine each year.

The original vineyard investment was an 11 acre block at Leasingham, Clare Valley, in 1991. Then in 1996, Claymore Wines invested in a forty acre block in Penwortham and planted Shiraz, Mataro and Grenache. The further acquisition of three established premium Watervale blocks, planted predominantly to Riesling, Shiraz and Cabernet has driven the growth of Claymore Wines. Proudly, 100% of Claymore Riesling and at least 85% of reds are made from estate owned vineyards – exercising control in the vineyard has resulted in a consistently high quality and high performing range of wines.

Claymore’s distinctive packaging derives from some of the music legends of modern times, primarily taken from Anura’s lifetime playlist, while the wines are a true reflection of the Clare Valley’s distinctive elevated terroir.
